Made in Japan by a small, heritage-focused atelier, each robe is dyed, cut, sewn, and finished with care using traditional techniques. The 100% silk satin (16 momme) has a creamy, fluid drape — weighty enough to feel grounding, yet light enough to breathe against the skin.
The print features plum blossoms and silvery cranes — two of Japan’s most cherished symbols. Plum blossoms, which bloom in winter, represent quiet strength, renewal, and elegance. Cranes, often called the bird of happiness, symbolise longevity, hope, and lasting love. Together, they bring a sense of poetic stillness and gentle optimism to this piece.

Founder Inspiration
Some pieces arrive not from a product roadmap, but from the heart. Vignette by GGCo. is my space to share small, considered collections that speak to a slower, more beautiful life at home. These kimono robes are pieces I’ve personally fallen for — things that spark a sense of quiet luxury, or ease, even in the most ordinary of moments.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Japanese silk kimonos began to appear in the homes and wardrobes of fashionable women far from Kyoto. With the end of Japan’s centuries-long isolation during the Meiji era, a flood of beautiful, unfamiliar objects entered Europe and the West — sparking a cultural fascination known as Japonisme. Floral silk kimonos became coveted items among artists, aristocrats, and women of the new leisure class.
These robes symbolised more than beauty; they represented worldliness, refinement, and a kind of quiet indulgence. Women wore them at home — lounging in sunlit bedrooms or standing for portraits — draped in the artistry and symbolism of another culture. Designers like Paul Poiret reinterpreted them. Painters like Monet and Whistler romanticised them. And over time, in the West, they finally evolved into objects not just of fashion, but of reverence.
